Okay, so the entire December 2009 issue of Pro Wrestling Illustrated isn’t 100% dedicated to WWE’s fastest rising star, Dolph Zigger, BUT!!! he does make several appearances in the magazine!

First up, PWI took 75 of the top stars from Raw, SmackDown, ECW, TNA and Ring of Honor. They divided them into 15 groups and then evaluated the five men to decide who was the best. In Dolph’s group, he represented SmackDown, Ted DiBiase Jr Raw, Vladimir Kozlov for ECW, Sting TNA and Roderick Strong for ROH. No surprises here that Ziggler was chosen by PWI as the better wrestler out of the other 4.

It’s time to start voting for the Pro Wrestling Illustrated 2009 Achievement Awards! Ziggler is nominated for the awards of “Most Improved Wrestler of the Year” and “Most Hated Wrestler of the Year.” It’s up to you to vote! You can send your votes to:

The best part of this magazine is the four page article that’s all about Dolph Ziggler! It discusses Ziggler’s several rises and falls; his hits and misses if you will. Coupled with multiple pictures of the self confident superstar, it’s a great thing to read…. or stare at! It’s ended with a very good reminder and quote from Dolph himself, “Nobody on Smackdown, or in all of WWE for that matter, has my combination of ability, looks, charisma and intangibles. Why, you ask? Because nobody is Dolph Ziggler.”

Though Dolph Ziggler may be “Mr. Ziggles” to The Shaman of Sexy, his name was Mr. Winner this week on SmackDown. After Ziggler avoided Starship Pain by exiting the ring, he used both quick thinking and the announce table to incapacitate The Friday Night Delight long enough to pick up the win by count-out.

Finlay, R-Truth, Matt Hardy & Hart Dynasty def. Dolph Ziggler, McIntyre, Escobar & JTG

Team SmackDown co-captains Jericho and Kane wielded their power in arranging this match of epic proportions. The winning team would join the elite “SmackDown Seven” at WWE Bragging Rights. The match itself – and its outcome – proved how fast big things can happen in WWE. After Finlay smashed JTG with his shillelagh, Matt Hardy dropped the Cryme Tyme member with a Twist of Fate to stamp his team’s ticket to join Jericho & Kane at WWE Bragging Rights.

Shawn Michaels vs. Unified Tag Team Champion Chris Jericho ended in a No Contest
It figures. Unified Tag Team Champion and Team SmackDown co-captain Chris Jericho was supposed to fight against Team Raw co-captain Shawn Michaels in the main event. Jericho, however, wasn’t about to let a perfectly good opportunity to deceive and punish his WWE Bragging Rights rival go to waste.

Having witnessed the Team Raw disarray earlier in the evening, Jericho presumed he could take advantage. As he and HBK stood in the ring, he summoned the rest of his SmackDown crew in the hope of pummeling Michaels. The plan, however, backfired. Rather than intimidate HBK, the scheme actually offered a common purpose to the Raw lineup as they emerged to confront their SmackDown counterparts.

As the two teams verged on combat, SmackDown’s Vickie Guerrero interrupted, insisting that no physicality would occur until Sunday at WWE Bragging Rights. DX didn’t take Vickie’s whining to heart, instead attacking their opponents, which resulted in an all-out brawl between Team Raw and Team SmackDown to end Monday night.

Dolph Ziggler def. Finlay and Mike Knox in a Triple Threat WWE Bragging Rights Qualifying Match

In a match with major implications, the young Dolph Ziggler saw an opportunity and took it. Finlay smashed Mike Knox with his shillelagh and appeared to have the big man right where he wanted – until Ziggler pulled Finlay off the fallen Knox to cover him and claim the pinfall for himself.
