The Match: Michelle McCool is now the new #1 contender for the WWE Women’s Championship. Another great match produced by Gail Kim and Michelle McCool. The ladies have squared off before, making this their third official one-on-one match. A victory for each lady in singles action is amongst their career records prior to this bout. Lots of new offence and defense by both Divas to make for an exciting match. Match highlights include Michelle McCool falling victim to Gail Kim’s Flying Dragon. The strength of McCool to hold Kim upon her back is one that shouldn’t go unnoticed. Perhaps McCool’s strength isn’t one to rival that of Beth Phoenix, but still impressive none the less. Another exciting move was watching Gail Kim with a step-up kick to the head, knocking Michelle to her feet. Yes, impressive effort put forth by SmackDown’s new-comer, but, it just wasn’t quite enough to pull out an upset. With a technical move-set of her own, Michelle was sure to focus on Kim’s knee after she had driven it right into the ring post. Submission holds and a plethora of attacks to Kim’s knee, the end result would lead to another Faith Breaker. Alicia Fox played her role well as an accessory of distraction for McCool, leading up to the victory. McCool is now 2-1. Next stop, Melina’s WWE Championship.
The Storyline: Earlier in the night, one-half of McFoxxy (A-Fox, to be exact), met up with WWE Women’s Champion, Melina, who was cutting a backstage interview. A-Fox sent a message to Melina from Michelle, warning that McCool was after the belt that so rightfully belonged to her. Melina asked that A-Fox rely a message to McCool in return, only to slap the “personal assistant” across the face! Oh, snaps! So we’re still not quite sure what the alignment between McFoxxy is, but it’s a force to be reckon with. Teacher/Student, Personal Assistant, or what have you, we definitely like the team. They aren’t awkward together and what’s most important, they work very well as a team. Given the opportunity, I’m pretty sure A-Fox will help Michelle accomplish her dream in becoming the first Double Champion, having held both the Divas and Women’s Championship. WWE is doing quite well building up the official “Rematch” between McCool & Melina, a one-on-one match that is fit for pay-per-view. Melina-1, Michelle-0. Let’s even the odds, and bring the gold home! Hey, Michelle promised she’d be the first.
The Fashion: There isn’t much to say this week on the fashion front. Michelle looked good, at best. I’m not much of a camouflage fan, so Michelle’s ring attire looked to me, like G.I. Jane meets a Mighty Morphin Power Range. I get it, costume ring attire should be an exaggerated and elaborate mix of fashion and flamboyancy, and Michelle’s is no exception. Katy likes it, it doesn’t bother me, and we’re good. I would like to see Michelle go back to basics and return to black ring attire – it works, it’s her color. Heavier make-up would be a plus, I can never express that enough, and to change it up, let’s take a flat iron to Michelle’s hair and see the end result. Michelle needs a staple look, and I won’t let it go until she brings them out. Michelle, buy a pair of aviator sunglasses. Wear them and rock your fierce and fabulous self. You can work it, honey!
