The Breakdown of SmackDown!

The Match: The debut night of Michelle McCool’s first reign as Women’s Champion wasn’t quite the celebration as one would have anticipated, as Melina and Maria defeated Michelle McCool and Layla. Although the match was entertaining and easy to get behind your favorites, we just couldn’t get enough of Michelle and Melina as we would like. We’re pretty sure these two will once again square off for the Women’s Championship later this month at WWE’s next pay-per-view, Night of Champions. So what was Michelle’s new move of the week? A series of submission holds, actually! Michelle had concentrated all of her skill and energy as she had focused on Maria’s left leg, applying one submission hold after the other – we love it! Nothing says “I’ll hurt you” like a good submission hold, and Michelle’s got plenty of them. The finish came after Melina had bumped Michelle off the apron, forbidding her to interfere on a finisher applied to Layla to give the baby face team the victory for the night. A quick stare down between Melina and McCool, this feud is far from over!

The Storyline: While it’s never fun to take a loss, it definitely was far from being able to swallow a loss and still hold your head up high – on your debut night as Women’s Champion! But, oh well… Michelle’s next victory shall be that much sweeter. Hot off the heels of her ‘Bash’ win, the reigning Women’s Champion (how fun is that to say?!) and the First Lady of SmackDown found a new partner in crime in the ever bipolar Layla (is she heel, is she face, can she ever make up her mind?), after Alicia Fox had been drafted to RAW (we just died a little inside) this past Monday. There isn’t much to note other than Melina is out for blood and the Women’s Championship and that Michelle McCool has shown Layla more compassion than she ever has for Alicia; hey, Michelle went to check on Layla after she took the pin-fall, Alicia never got that much love from what we can remember. Team ‘Fierce Faith’ means double the trouble.

The Fashion: Love the hair! Love the make up! Love the new ring gear… not so much. While Michelle is looking nothing short of ferocious in a metallic pewter attire, I can’t say I’m exactly going ‘GaGa’ (har, har) over the plethora of crosses that are decked out all over Michelle’s body. I can’t help but to joke was she shooting the pilot for “Michelle, The Vampire Slayer”? Hey, Melina is out for blood, just sayin’. Here’s hoping that Michelle’s new ring gear will grow on us, and wishing her well as she gets ready to tour Asia! From the Blonde Bombshell to an Asian Sensation, please take good care of our girl!

And just for the fun of it, check out this intense “hype video” of Michelle entitled “The Queen” sent in by Adonis Rouse! The video is pure fire – are they casting for the next Terminator installment? Michelle’s your girl!
