Breakin’ down SmackDown: Results & Media

The Match: WWE Women’s Champion, Michelle McCool, defeated 2007 WWE Diva Search winner, Eve Torres, in singles bout on SmackDown. As usual, the chemistry between Eve and Michelle is quite evident, as fans were treated to a fast-paced match with lots of fresh maneuvers brought to the table by both Divas. I have to say though, I was a little skeptical with Eve stepping into the ring with Michelle again. After all, Michelle had suffered a knee injury at the hands of Eve a couple of months ago, which shelved our Women’s Champion for well-over a month. Oh, and did we mention it was from a simple roll-up? In the past, all in the past. Moving on, while Michelle did pick up the victory, it was great to see she’s able to change it up a bit, wrestling someone other than Melina, and thankfully, not having been involved in yet another tag team match. I will say, though, Michelle seems to be a much better worker as a heel character, compared to her earlier work as a babyface. Granted, she’s able to get away with a lot more tricks in her big ole bag of a move-set, but we also won’t strike out the fact that she’s always improving. Also adding (without trying to be too biased), her matches are never boring. And that’s a great thing! Speaking of great, it’s great to see the Big “bitch, sit your ass down” Boot making it’s return! Oh, stop, she’s a bad girl and we love it! RAWR!

The Storyline: Well, not much progress on development front this week. Eve was thrown to the wolves, and by that, we mean to Michelle McCruel and her Faithful Followers. From here, we may end up getting a series of challengers for Michelle’s gold, or perhaps even a new Diva Debut, going by all of the rumors floating around. Wishful thinking would be a new program with another Diva, but, when all else fails, we could always resort to the Melina-Michelle feud. For one reason or another, it just seems as though these two have some unfinished business. Now, as stated earlier, I’m not particularly fond of tag team bouts, as they seem to get repetitive and/or redundant after awhile. However, I would love to see Michelle mix it up in an inter-gender match, as we hadn’t seen one from her in quite awhile. I’m still holding onto the dream of Michelle McCool teaming up with Dolph Ziggler, but… ya never know. We’ll just have to see what next week will have in store for the First Lady of SmackDown before we get worried with the whole, “we have nothing for you” line.

The Fashion: Oh, sequins!!! Maybe it’s just a coincidence, or maybe Michelle really is paying homage to the best webmistress ever (heh, watch that go to my head), but Michelle brought out my most FAVORITE of her current wrestling attires for this week’s SmackDown – a day after my birthday! Okay, so maybe it really is just a coincidence, and Michelle really doesn’t care about which ring gear she goes with, so long as she’s covered-and if that were the case, it’d be time for us to drop the ‘fashion shtick,’ – collective webteam gasp! Any who, onto the actual review; she can never go wrong when her attire is set in black, and adding more pizzazz to the classic color, she’s decked out in sequins, adding just enough shimmer for her to be fierce, fabulous, and straight up glamour! Hair and makeup were kept light, a current trend Michelle’s been using, and it works. We’d like to see Michelle take it to the extreme a little bit more in that department, but if she’s saving it for the special pay-per-views, we’ll sit tight and hold out ’till then.
