Given that Michelle’s five year (count ‘em, FIVE!!) anniversary with WWE is coming up, I thought it’d be cool to look back on what she was doing this time years ago. We’re a week early, so there was nothing in 2004 (yet!). She was MIA in the last part of 2005 because of Melina and her cronies. Then after her appearance on the November 10, 2006 episode of SmackDown, she was gone again after being in the hospital for a two week stay. Of course she came back from it and has been unstoppable ever since!
So let’s take a trip down memory lane! We’ll see what Michelle was up to, and muse about what could have/should have happened.
November 10, 2006 – SmackDown – The Teacher days! Got it bad, so bad.. I’m hot for teacher! I wonder if she ever got sick of hearing that. Michelle joined one of her Pets, K.C. James, to the ring for his match against the then United States champion, Chris Benoit. Looking back at the screen caps from this, Michelle looked good! Black has always looked great on her. Looked great on her in ’06 and looks great on her in ’09! The wire rimmed glasses and yard stick fulfilled fantasies of boys around the world… And they may not have been her new Louis Vuitton boots, but McCool sure had an eye out for knee highs even then. Black and boots, it works for her, why change it? As for the match, her boy K.C. lost via submission and Michelle did not look too pleased. Guess it’s not a surprise that K.C. and Idol ‘flunked out.’ People say that everything happens for a reason. Had Michelle not gotten sick and admitted in to the hospital, what would have happened? Would she have stayed with the teacher gimmick and never wrestled the way she does now? Maybe she would have gotten fed up with James and Stevens, dumped them and proceeded on the path to championship glory.

November 9, 2007 – SmackDown – Oh snaps! Boy problems! Remember the oh so dramatic love triangle with Michelle, Jamie and Chuck? Yep, that was a mere two years ago! How time flies. First we saw Michelle and Torrie talking backstage. Chuck entered, followed by Victoria and Kenny Dykstra. (One of the cheerleaders for those of you asking, “Who?”) Apparently the word “ridin’” sets Michelle off. Victoria said it and the fit hit the shan! As most mature women would do, the two took their problems to the ring! It’s a shame we probably won’t get to see them wrestle each other again. Michelle and Victoria always gave us great matches and this one was no exception. An interference by Kenny and Chuck helped Victoria get Michelle in the perfect position for a nasty DDT, and ultimately the 1-2-3. A short match, but as I always love to point out about Michelle’s matches, the action was taken to the outside! She was hardcore even during her lovin’ life days. Okay so it was a kidney shot to the barricade courtesy of Victoria, but still! You gotta start somewhere. Let’s say Kenny got released earlier and wasn’t around for that match. It’s likely Michelle would have another victory under her belt.

November 12, 2007 – RAW – The match was set for Survivor Series that Sunday. Michelle, Mickie James, Kelly Kelly, Torrie Wilson and Maria were up against Melina, Jillian Hall, Victoria, Beth Phoenix and Layla. All week we got matches involving divas from all 3 brands. Michelle made a rare appearance on Raw for a 6 diva tag match. The Pink Ladies (Michelle, Mickie and Kelly) took on Melina, Jillian and Layla. First off, I think this is the only time Michelle has ever wrestled in pink. We’re all big fans of red, but after looking over this match, pink should make a return! Sure she’s a tomboy, but the girl looks gorgeous in pink. She could go for pink camouflaged attire, but Natalya may get cranky. Back to the Pink Ladies. Mickie can be Jan. Those rumors would agree she loves her Twinkies and Dessert Wine. Hardy-har-har. Kelly Kelly can be Marty. And for 2007, Michelle can be Frenchy. Except with better hair. Okay, okay. Moving on. This was one of the first times we saw Michelle and Melina mix it up in the ring again after Melina put Michelle on the shelf for a while. Who knew they’d be in a heated rivalry a few years later? Mickie got the win for her team. Too bad she can’t get a win now. Whoops! Did I say that out loud!? If they knew then what they know now. Michelle and Mickie probably wouldn’t have acted like best buddies. In fact, we could have seen a lot more cattiness. Michelle would be a secret spy on her team, then giving all the juicy information to Layla, who in turn would dish it out to Jillian and Melina. They could then target the weak spots of Team Pink, and bam! Mickie loses. Too bad, so sad. We didn’t see it then, but we can watch Mickie lose to Michelle at this year’s Survivor Series.

November 13, 2007 – ECW – Like the night before, the divas involved in the Survivor Series match were not taking a break before Sunday. Even though Michelle has been a SmackDown diva since day one, she didn’t make an appearance on this particular week. Instead she showed her pretty face on RAW and ECW, both in tag matches. This night she teamed up with Kelly Kelly to take on Melina and Layla. Oh how the times have changed. The match was short and sweet. Michelle pinned Melina after a swift kick to the head. Guess she was giving Melina a little taste of things to come. Too bad Melina didn’t listen. Oh well, more enjoyment for us! Continuing with what was mentioned above, if Michelle and Layla were in cahoots like they were now, the results… probably would have been the same. If they could tell the future, Layla could have whispered in Melina’s ear, “Hey, in a few years, Michelle’s gonna beat you for the title.” Then while Melina was reeling over that, POW! Michelle kicks her in the head just like she did this night.

November 14, 2008 – SmackDown – Before we saw the McCruel Era, we had this match. Maria previously won herself a shot at Michelle’s Divas title. At this point, they were still friends. Maria hadn’t messed up too much. However, during the match Michelle showed the first signs of viciousness. While going for the Heel Hook, Michelle twisted it into a full blown ankle lock. (OHMIGOSH, SHE STOLE THAT TOO!!) With a sadistic grin on Michelle’s face, Maria tapped out. At ringside was Festus, Jesse and a teddy bear. When the bell rang, Festus was sent into one of his episodes and went charging into the ring. After Michelle escaped safely, Festus gave the bear to Maria. Michelle kept her title, Maria got a stuffed animal. Seems fair to me! What would have happened if Michelle hadn’t got out of the ring in time and Festus went bonkers on her? Perhaps Chuck Palumbo would have come racing down on his motorcycle and “brought the crazy!” Or, in a real turn of events, Michelle could have been like, “Oh no you did not!” and kicked him in the face too. Kicked the ugly right off!! We’ll settle for her retaining her title and eventually getting revenge on Maria for costing her said title a few weeks later to Maryse. Now Michelle’s once again a champion and where’s Maria? Oh that’s right, licking her wounds and mending a broken heart.
