Breakin’ Down 2 Weeks Worth of SmackDown

Lucy & Ethel, Laverne & Shirley, Thelma & Louise and Rachel & Monica haven’t got anything on the duo of Lay-Cool. WWE Women’s Champion, Michelle McCool, and her feisty sidekick, Layla, are part comedy, part aggression, part fierce in your face.

Last week on SmackDown, fans were treated to the gift that keeps on giving. Lay-Cool had chipped in to get Piggie, sorry, Mickie… James a gift certificate to the world famous weight loss program, Jenny Craig. We believe it was very thoughtful, and most generous of Lay-Cool to provide such a gift. One could only imagine the many wonders that could occur, if only Mickie had taken this seriously. Bah, humbug.

The Women’s Champion would later find herself seated at ringside, doing color commentary as her other half, Layla, teamed up with Beth Phoenix, to take on Piggie James, and the underfed redhead, Maria. While looking fierce, fabulous, and full of one liner zingers, it wouldn’t be long before Mickie and Michelle were face-to-face. After having pinned Layla, Mickie made it a point that she was gunning for Michelle, and her WWE Gold. Thankfully, before things could get physical, and Heaven forbid, a lock of Michelle’s hair had fallen out of place, Beth took advantage of a blindsided Mickie, and attacked her. Michelle would capitalize and remind Mickie she shouldn’t mess with the best, and hold her chin up high, while Mickie lay cowering at the mat.

This week on SmackDown kicked off Michelle’s New Year, as she once again sat ringside, this time with Layla, and as a celebrating Glamafan. Rosa Mendes, eat your heart out. We’d like to believe that Michelle actually looked a whole lot better with the headband than Beth Phoenix does, but hey, why steal someone else’s thunder when you’re already sticks, fire, flame, HOT, yourself. Michelle’s works it. Hey! While Beth battled Mickie James in the ring in a singles bout, Team Lay-Cool couldn’t help but to get involved, or well, show their support, we’ll say. With Layla on the apron distracting the referee and Michelle having accidently kicked Beth in the face after Mickie’s quick dodge, things hadn’t gone accordingly. Thus, Mickie James picked up another victory.

Showing Miss Piggie who is boss, Lay-Cool entered the ring to give her a piece of their mind (and fists), only to have The Glamazon herself interject on the fierce and fabulous beat down. Michelle would find herself thrown to and fro from within the ring, and at one point, fell victim to Beth’s military bench press (or lack thereof), before having been slammed onto the mat. Oh, snaps. Is this how Beth treats all her Glamafans? Thank goodness this is MichelleMcCool.Net and nothing else, as it should be.

While Lay-Cool found themselves hugging each other for support, proclaiming to Beth that it was an accident, Beth was sure to make a statement and had even gone as far as connecting her finisher to Mickie, The Glam Slam. Things are getting very heated on SmackDown, as the race to the top continues. Could we see Beth Phoenix vs. Michelle McCool for the Women’s Championship soon? It seems likely. But it also seems as though Michelle’s keeping her friends close, and her enemies closer.
