Breakin’ Down Smackdown – Results & Media
February 26th, 2010
Before we jump into the celebration, let’s do a little recap: Smackdown consultant Vickie Guerrero made the announcement last week that Michelle was cashing in her rematch clause and that Vickie would be the special guest referee. Insert all those crazy theories here. The feedback was all over the place. Some thought Vickie was going to side with Mickie (The Ickies?), others thought there was no possible way Michelle could be beat, regardless of who was the referee. Mickie’s win was somewhat of a fluke… A thirty second match with a distraction? Pfft.
A week later here we are, results in hand! Well results on the screen really.. That’s not important. What is important is that we have a brand new Women’s Champion! Michelle got back what is rightfully hers – the title! You go, Champ! Her bestie Layla accompanied her to the ring and played the perfect cheerleader. She also gave Vickie’s butt a massage when Ms. Guerrero fell out of the ring. Can Lay-Cool ever be defeated? We highly doubt it.
On a more serious note, this match was fun to watch and once again showed just how far Michelle has come in her years as a WWE Diva. The ladies took it to the outside once again, which was a reminder that HELLO!! Michelle needs to be in some sort of No Disqualification match! The victory also landed Michelle the number 17 spot on the Power 25. Now that Michelle is reigning supreme once again, it’s time to get the show on the road for WrestleMania! It’s no mystery that Michelle’s goal is to have a one on one match at WrestleMania. Hopefully this will be her year! She’s a two time champ and to be able to put on a match on the grandest stage of them all would be a treat for any McCruel fan.
The proclaimed Wild Card, Beth Phoenix, has once again been inserted into the mix. She should make up her mind. One week she’s got nothing to do with Mickie or Michelle, the next she’s scoping them out from backstage. Let’s see – Mickie has her rematch, Beth’s obviously not going anywhere any time soon. Maybe we’ll see Mickie vs. Beth in the coming weeks to determine who will be the true number one contender and we’ll get the one on one match at Mania. Then there’s always the Triple Threat possibility. Sounds off in comments and be sure to vote in our new poll! What do you want to see at this year’s WrestleMania?
In closing, we’re so pleased and happy at the outcome of the match! Not to mention, Michelle was looking fabulous in her new attire! Her hair was perfect and how could we not notice the eyes? We’ve got our fingers crossed that Michelle did a photoshoot Tuesday night. (We also hope it won’t be held hostage for months on end and will actually be posted soon!) To top of that look, Michelle has the best accessory a Diva can have: the WWE Women’s Championship! We’re proud of ya, Champ!
LayCool had a little bit of a post-match celebration-slash-interview, as Josh Matthews tried to get in a few words. Key word: tried. After LayCool had beaten WWE Raw Divas, Gail Kim and Maryse, they were already looking ahead into the future, onto bigger – much bigger (hear that, Piggie James?) things. Michelle McCruel will face WWE Women’s Champion, Mickie James, for the WWE Women’s Championship. Michelle’s chances should be good, with Vickie Guerrero in her corner… but… ya never know. Until then, enjoy the video and all of Michelle’s fabulousness!
Yes, that’s right. Michelle’s so awesome she wrestles on shows she’s not even scheduled to be at!
Just before Maryse vs. Gail Kim for the Divas Championship could get underway, Vickie Guerrero came out. She commented about Maryse making some not so nice judgments about the Smackdown divas. She then changed the match into a tag team match, postponing the title match. It is now Maryse and Gail vs. Simply Flawless!
Long story short, Michelle hit the Faith Breaker on Gail for the 1-2-3.
She was also wearing a brand new attire! Royal blue looks fabulous on the First Lady of Smackdown!
Tonight, on WWE Firday Night SmackDown, it was announced by SmackDown consultant, Vickie Guerrero, that Michelle McCool has decided to use her rematch clause. That clause will come into effect starting next week, when she faces WWE Women’s Champion, Mickie James, on SmackDown. However, there is a special stipulation; Vickie will be the special guest referee. Interesting to say the least. Will Michelle McCool capture the Women’s Title for her second reign, during Mickie’s first title defense? What do you think will happen?
Later on, WWE Diva, Maria, was shown backstage with Matt Hardy, profusely apologizing about the fact she just cost her team the match, having been pinned earlier by fellow WWE Diva, Natalya, in a 3-on-3 Mixed-Tag match. Matt tried to console Maria, and just as things were heating up; enter Team Lay-Cool. Michelle McCool and Layla interrupted Matt and Maria, performing their usual antics. Maria would later storm off, leaving Lay-Cool giggling, only to have Matt Hardy tell them: “Children, grow up!”
A quick segment, borderline pointless, but fun nonetheless. Michelle looked nothing short of fabulous, but her looks can only carry us so far. Here’s hoping that next week will be taken a bit more seriously for her rematch, and that Michelle gets some time to shine. But with Vickie Guerrero involved, we wouldn’t be surprised if she walks out the Women’s Champion some how…

Two issues worth of WWE Magazine scans have been added to the McCruel gallery. We sure hope the magazine staff didn’t hurt themselves with all the McCool they put in there! (Please note the excessive sarcasm.) In the March issue, they hint that the April magazine will be their best edition to the magazine since it first started. Unless there’s a shoot from Michelle or an interview with her, we have our doubts. C’mon guys! Sure you’re not in her league, but perhaps if you offer some pizza and frosting, she’d let you spend half an hour or so in her glorious presence to snap some pictures and answer a few questions.
A big thank you to Dan for scanning and sending us his scan of Michelle from the 2010 WWE Souvenir Program.
Last, but certainly not least, as some of you may have been noticing, some super HQ never before seen pictures have been added to the gallery periodically over the past few months. Don’t expect that to stop any time soon. If you haven’t gotten to see every pore on her skin, now is your chance!
Backstage in the catering area, we saw Mickie James looking over some fruit. Maybe they were deep fried?! Insert LayCool into the picture! After asking Mickie what she was doing with fruit – perhaps there were cookies in the bowl? – Michelle made sure Mickie knew it wasn’t over. Mickie still has Michelle’s title and it won’t be over until Michelle gets it back. Layla kindly pointed out that it is Michelle’s title because it actually fits her. Mickie didn’t look particularly amused by their suggestions of belt extenders, nor did she seem to appreciate their suggestion of eating cottage cheese. (“To compliment her cottage cheese.” Thank you, Matt Striker, for that visual. Ew.) In fact, Mickie was so unappreciative that she hit the dish out of Michelle’s hand where it landed right on Vickie Guerrero’s head. WHOOPSIES!!!! That’s like spilling coffee on Mr. McMahon! Stupid, and you just don’t do it! Mickie ran off while LayCool tried their hardest to clean up the beloved Vickie.
The original match was scheduled to be Mickie James vs. Layla for the umpteenth time. Fortunately we heard those two words we’ve grown to love, “EXCUSE ME!!!” Still covered in cottage cheese, Vickie came out to announce that the match was now a handicap match. Standing at ringside in her street clothes, Michelle looked thrilled! Homegirl took off her belt and shoes, and was ready to throw down! Oh snaps!
In a strange, against the odds type manner, Mickie managed to fight back several times against LayCool. Say what?! Oh well, she couldn’t fight back for long. Even in an every day tank top and black leggings, Michelle took Mickie down just like she has so many times before. Yep, we’re still convinced that the Rumble was a fluke. Michelle was off guard! Anybody could have done that! That’s our story, and we’re stickin’ to it!
Anyway, one Faith Breaker later and we have our winners: Michelle McCool and Layla! The besties celebrated their victory in the ring with hugs and smiles. What a flawless sight!
Now that our favorite BFFs of Smackdown have Vickie clearly on their side, it’s time to get things back in order for Michelle to win back her championship! Vickie declared her the true number one contender last week. Michelle should have a rematch clause as well, unless those don’t count anymore?? Who knows, things change all the time with WWE. Regardless of that, she is the number one contender. With the Raw girls having a match at the upcoming Elimination Chamber PPV, it seems a little more favorable that Michelle will accomplish yet another goal this year by having a one on one match at WrestleMania! Dreams really do come true!
