Apologies for the delay with results and media, but fret no longer, they are here! Thursday nights Main Event on WWE SuperStars! “You’re not enough for me” hits the arena speakers, and the viewers at home are once again green with envy. With choreography that’ll surely get the likes of Britney Spears and Janet Jackson’s attention, Batman & Robin Michelle and Layla, the self-professed co-WWE Women’s Champions, make their way to the ring. Matt Striker comments that the entrance theme is not only his favorite song, but his ringtone as well. Really? Us, too! Divas Tag Team action tonight! “Hollah-hollah-hollah…” Enter: the Mattel Twins, Tiffany and Kelly Kelly. While the girls bump bones (or well, in Tiffany’s case “hips”), LayCool pulled a cute little taunt in the ring and did just the same. And better!!!! Mind you. Tiffany and Michelle start the match. Lord, give her the strength tonight.
After Michelle bounces around and mocks Tiffany for a quick second, do they finally lock up and get things started. Michelle is pushed in the corner, but as the ref backs Tiffany away and off her, does Michelle connect with a slap! Another lock up in the ring with some arm bar locks and back and forth’s, before Tiffany gets Michelle in the corner once again. Tiffany’s on the top ropes, looks like it’s time for her “signature move.” Monkey flip. Yawn. Michelle lands in the center of the ring holding onto her hot bon-bons. Girls lock up again. Michelle seems to be struggling as Tiffany takes Michelle to the corner for the third time, this time, Team Mattel’s stomping ground. JAWS tags out as the fans pop for Smelly Kelly. Sunset flip off the top ropes. Doesn’t take long for Michelle to turn the tables on Kelly. Michelle catches Kelly and carries her into the corner of famous and flawless. Tag to Layla. Layla taunts Kelly, which leads her to catch Kelly’s kick. Time for Kelly’s “signature back flip.” Another yawn. Layla struggles as she’s thrown into Mattel’s corner. A tag to Tiffany from Kelly leads to a dropkick on a crawling Layla. The action spills to outside, Tiffany slams Layla’s face into barricade, and then sends her back into the ring. Tiffany scales the ropes, with Layla catching her with a kick to the shin. Tiffany spills to the mat. Layla’s a hellcat in the ring as she slams Tiffany’s head into the mat. Face smashes into the mat.
Layla tags in Michelle, fans get behind Tiffany. Knees to the back of Tiffany while Michelle gets her under the ropes. Michelle drags Tiffany around, then lands a cheap shot to Kelly. Tiffany’s dragged into LayCool’s corner, then Michelle tags in her bestie. Tiffany struggles and almost makes a tag, but Layla kicks Kelly’s hand out of the way. Michelle’s in for the aid, and grabs Tiffany back into their corner. Tag to Michelle. Tiffany is getting weak, easy pickings. Fans are getting behind her again. Really? Yawn once more. Tiffany almost gets another tag; this time puts JAWS mouth to work and screams for Kelly. Michelle laughs and holds her still before dragging her back into the corner of famous and flawless. Another tag to Layla. Layla with a dropkick to Tiffany’s back then goes for the pin, but Tiffany kicks out. Argh! Hairsnap to mat. Layla misses leg drop, bad move. JAWS makes the hot tag to Kelly. Numerous clotheslines to Layla, with an added cheap shot to Michelle for good measure. Irish whip reversed by Layla, Kelly comes back with sunset pin. Layla kicks out. Kelly with the x-factor. Layla kicks out again. Layla gets Kelly to the corner as they have a slap fest. Layla sends Kelly to the ropes with an Irish whip. Michelle grabs Kelly’s leg. Kelly dodges Layla’s blindside attack and rolls her up. Michelle tries to interfere, which leads to Tiffany entering the ring. Bad move! Ref tries to hold back Tiffany while Michelle takes advantage! Michelle connects with her big boot knocking Kelly flat on her back! Michelle slides out of the ring as Layla hooks the leg for the 1-2-3!!!
Quite honestly? I found this to be one of the most entertaining matches Michelle’s had in a while! There was a lot of storytelling going on, and while we root for the heels (because we’re naughty like that), Team Mattel held their own and made us believe it could have gone either way. I don’t know if it’s just a case of finally swallowing that rather large pill of “this is what we’ve got to deal with for now” (yeah, large pill and a mouthful) while Beth is injured, but… Team LayCool vs. Team Mattel is really heating up. It still pains me to wrap my mind around the idea of Kelly being the Women’s Champion (oh, did you just get a shiver down your spine, too?), but if it means Michelle and Layla are going to chase after that title, and with a vengeance, then I’m all for it. If or when Michelle finally gets her own DVD, I’d expect this match to be on her “best of” roster. For a tag team match, it really was one of her best!
